Roland Green
Roland Green 1890 – 1972
Green was a bird artist working in oils, watercolours and etchings, he studied at Rochester School of Art and worked at the Natural History Museum. His talent was recognized by Lord Desborough who owned Hickling estate, he became a patron of Green who later moved to Hickling living on a houseboat and using a drainage mill as his studio, demand for his work increased and he eventually built a bungalow and studio on the edge of the broad, he lived there until his passing in 1972.
