John Sutton
John Sutton born in 1935 is a well known East Anglian landscape and marine painter who lives in North Norfolk, England.
John studied at Norwich and Brighton art schools, He spent a number of years teaching art and then had an exhibition in the Assembly House Norwich, a London art dealer saw his work and subsequently offered him a one man exhibition, allowing him to concentrate on painting full time.
From the 1980’s John Sutton’s work was held exclusively at the Eaton Gallery in Duke Street, London, which has since closed on the death of the gallery owner, John originally started painting the rurality and simple beauty of Norfolk’s Broadlands. He later matured into maritime scenes, before taking an interest in Edwardian London.
Today, John typically focuses on commissions with subjects ranging from North Norfolk, Suffolk as well as the south coast, Johns paintings are held in private collections worldwide, Living in East Anglia where the wide skies and ever changing light create atmospheric effects on the landscape creeks and seashore.
